Healing herbal teas
Herbal tea is actually an infusion or tisane of dried buds, leaves, flowers, fruits and barks of botanicals. It is no content of Camellia sinensis. Herbal infusions are usually prepared like tea by pouring boiling water into a dried plant material and steeping for several minutes. All herbal tea are usually safe to drink, but if you are prescribed some medication or have any health problems, it is recommended previously to consult with your doctor to ensure that herbal infusion is good for you. Herbal teas can benefit your health because they have sedative, stimulant, cleansing, digestive or another health promoting properties. Usually herbal teas do not contain caffeine, so for sensitive people they can be an alternative to proper teas. There are many types of herbal teas. I would like to look at the most popular of these ones.
Ginger tea
Ginger is the underground stem or rhizome of the plant Zingiber officinale. It has been used in Asian, Indian, Arabic medicine since ancient times.
Ginger tea is easy to make or you can buy it in the shop. To make tea yourself take ginger root about 3 cm long, peel it, slice it thinly, then add boiling water (4 cups) and simmer about 15-20 minutes. Strain the infusion and enjoy the tea as is, but you can also sweeten it with honey or add lemon. This is the common recipe of ginger tea. I just steep the sliced 1cm long peeled fresh ginger root for 5 minutes in 1 cup of boiled water, then drink.
Ginger tea has well-known health benefits such as improves circulation and blood flow, helps regulate blood sugar, improves digestion, relives nausea, eases stomach cramps, reduces menstrual cramping, helps clear the mind, boosts immune system, relives cold and flu symptoms.

Camomile tea
Camomile tea is a very popular herbal infusion for many people. It has been known for hundreds of years and is made of chamomile flowers, normally dried. It is naturally caffeine free tisane and can be compared with green tea for its health benefits and is one of the safest medicinal herbs. Many people just like the taste of tea, but they also benefit their health by drinking camomile tea. Camomile tea has calming effect, can induce natural sleep, promoting relaxation and stress relief. It can help people to fight with depression, allow them to fall asleep better and improve the quality of night sleep.
Camomile tea can ease muscles crumps by rising levels of anti-spasmodic chemical glycine, regulates menstrual periods, and helping women with period pains. Also camomile tea can help with stomach-aches, diarrhea and colic, improve liver and kidney function, heal mouth sores and prevent gum disease. This tea is used as an anti-inflammatory, a sedative and an anti-ulcer remedy
Rooibos or Red bush tea
Rooibos or red bush tea is made of the South African plant Aspalathus linearis and has a naturally sweet flavor and a delicate nutty aroma. Tea is produced from needle-shaped leaves, which are firstly fermented and then dried. Brew rooibos tea as usual using boiling water, steeping time no less than 5 minutes. This lovely caffeine and calorie free infusion is very rich in minerals, flavonoids and polyphenols, offers many health benefits for people of all ages. Among the polyphenols there are water-soluble antioxidants, which have antiviral, antibacterial, and anticancer properties. Red bush tea also contains less than half the amount of tannin found in regular black teas, which is known for its ability to suppress absorption of iron from food.
Japanese researchers found that this herbal infusion can help protect the nervous system and brain against the damaging effects of ageing, such as lipid peroxidation, which with over time can lead to Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. It has soothing effect and can be recommended for people suffering from irritability, stress, headaches, disturbed sleeping patterns, insomnia, nervous tension and mild depression or hypertension. Also you can find a mixture of peppermint tea and black tea (Camellia sinensis). Pure peppermint tea is naturally caffeine free. It has minty, refreshing taste and good for drinking hot or cold. This tea contains the powerful therapeutic ingredient mentol. This delicious tisane helps to promote digestion and can help people suffering from an upset stomach, nausea, diarrhea and flatulence. Because it has a calming and numbing effect and it can reduce anxiety associated with mild depression and also ease menstrual cramps.
