How to make a simple 8-point window star

Waldorf Window stars are the German tradition of light catchers known to be made in Waldorf schools and families. They are made to decorate the windows and hanged on the windows for the light to come through. Without doubt I shall say the look so much better than just a cut out snowflakes in winter! I spent hours of trying to remember how to make one myself. Here is a tutorial I found in a lovely blog of one wonderful Waldorf mum:
You will need eight square sheets of kite paper of one size and a glue stick. It is better to use kite paper because it is more sturdy and easier to fold but you can use tissue paper instead – it is easier to find.
Take each square and fold it neatly on the diagonal. Unfold the sheets. Then fold the corners on either side to meet your center fold line. Easy so far!
Dab a bit of glue on each corner to pin everything down at the center of the star. Glue the star together, gluing the unfolded bottom of the second star point to the diagonal of the first star point. Continue until all the star points have been glued together.

Exeriment: To make a 10 point star, simply use 10 squares and overlap the points a bit more. Lay them out first before gluing.
3″ squares will make a star just over 8″ tall.
6″ squares will make a star just about 17″ tall.
Have fun experimenting with different sizes.
Stick your star on your window glass with blue tack or double-sided tape.
